Preparing a social media shoot

Before filming, clarify what the video should do: introduce a product, tell the story of an event or give someone a voice. Choose one central idea and one intended action rather than trying to show everything in a single piece of content.

Then prepare a short brief: target audience, platform, examples of tone, essential messages and preferred date. List the people, locations, products and shots needed. Check filming and image-use permissions; rights relating to people, locations and music depend on the situation.

On the day, a quiet space, ready-to-film products and an available point of contact make the work easier. Plan the versions you need: vertical, subtitles, shorter edits and any adaptations. Finally, choose who will approve the edit and consolidate their feedback.
